Big Things On The Horizon

February 21, 2010

There are big things on the horizon for this blogger. I’ve outgrown this forum and wanted to move to my own domain and as Murphy’s Law dictates, all the domains correlating to my current branding have been taken except for a .xx from some third world nation I’ve never heard of.

I also wanted to start a more collaborative blog site so I am also looking for contributors! If you are passionate about your opinions and beliefs and like to write, I want to talk to you!

I’ve secured the new domain, which will remain secret for now as I’m in the process of setting up the new site and learning CSS/PHP. Uhg! No really… UHG!!!

I am very greatful to you for reading my rants and opinions and sharing your own as well. I hope you all follow me in my new adventure.

Details coming soon.

Obama Forms Commission to Reduce Obamanism

February 17, 2010

February 17th, 2010

Last month, The Senate shot down a plan backed by Mr. Obama to create a bipartisan task force to address and reduce the U.S. deficit. Although it did garner 53 votes, 7 shy of the 60 needed to pass, lawmakers said they didn’t want to be “railroaded” into how they legislated their spending from outside sources. I’m left to assume the American people are included in that statement as well.

Obama has decided to create the commission anyway through an executive order and without the teeth of the original proposal. Law makers would not be required to even acknowledge the recommendations proposed by this panel let alone vote on anything.

This from FOXNews.com

Former White House chief of staff Erskine Bowles and former Republican Senate Whip Alan Simpson would lead the panel, a senior administration official said Tuesday. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the president’s executive order creating the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform had not been announced.

The deficit spiked to an extraordinary $1.4 trillion last year and could top that figure this year as the struggling economy puts a big dent in tax revenues. Even worse from the perspective of economists and deficit hawks, the medium-term deficit picture is for deficits to hit around $1 trillion a year for the foreseeable future.

Obama and his economic team have said repeatedly that this is not sustainable. He told lawmakers during his State of the Union address that he would go around their vote and appoint a version of a deficit commission.

Obama’s version of the commission is a weak substitute for what he really wanted: a panel created by Congress that could force lawmakers to consider unpopular remedies to reduce the debt, including curbing politically sensitive entitlements like Social Security and Medicare.

As rejected, the bipartisan 18-member panel would have worked for much of the year and, if 14 members agree, report a deficit reduction blueprint after the November elections that would be voted on before the new Congress convenes next year. The 14 would have to include at least half of the panel’s Republicans.

That idea crashed in the Senate, defeated by equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans — some of whom initially supported the idea.

Although Obama’s commission will lack any requirement for Congress to act on its advice, it will provide some political cover and big-name backing.

Bowles, the president of the University of North Carolina, served as Democratic President Bill Clinton’s chief of staff from 1996 to 1998. Simpson, a senator from Wyoming from 1979 to 1997, was the No. 2 Republican and the top GOP member of the Social Security subcommittee.

So as Mr Obama plans to raise the deficit to record levels and then raise them again over the following year, he’s calling for a minuscule 15 billion dollar spending freeze and a panel to tell congress how to reduce spending. One must wonder if the cost of paying these panel members is going to exceed the actual net gains from any cuts congress actually agrees to.

This is nothing but one more cog in Mr. Obama’s political machine that just refuses to run out of gas even though he won the election a year ago. He’s not looking to bust the deficit, he’s looking to put more capital into his political coffers. Just one more of many on the list of empty promises this man has made both on the road to the White House and after he moved in.

It is pretty plain to see Mr. Obama has no intentions of curbing what he himself calls, “unsustainable spending”.

What we need is jobs and a gross reduction in the size and scope of the federal government. We don’t merely need cuts in spending; we need to cut out programs altogether. The government is simply too big and too wasteful. 90% of what is done on the federal level needs to be moved to the States. We shouldn’t have some states contributing grossly more in tax revenue to the federal government than they get back while “donor” states take more than they give. The responsibility needs to be more localized and tailored to meet the needs of Americans on a targeted basis the way that was intended by our Founders; localized representation and action in the hands of the people, not bureaucrats in Washington and not corporate lobbyists sweating about the next set of overbearing federal regulations and taxes.

If this commission comes out with any findings other than the need to kill Mr. Obama’s gross deficit spending agenda then it will be clear that they are simply tilting at windmills in an effort to further the current Marxist agenda.

If you want to increase tax revenue intake to the federal government, Mr. Obama, try putting people back to work with meaningful, long term employment. More private wealth equals more tax revenue collected. It’s pretty simple. Grossly cut the budget and freeze all discretionary spending outside of the military budget. Cut the corporate tax rate by 10 to 15% and put a 7 to 10 year moratorium on all capital gains across the board. Take what is left of the Porkulus and apply every penny to small business grants and 0% interest loans to encourage growth in targeted locals and industries.

But, as we’ve clearly seen, Mr. Obama’s agenda doesn’t seem to take into account anything but redistribution through tax and spend policy, union pandering and carbon credit programs.

Mr. Obama is right about one thing. Now is the time for drastic change, just not the kind of change being espoused in Washington today. We have never been able to spend our way out of a recession or depression but the never ending line of Democrats who can’t seem to grasp this concept is out the door and around the corner.

We need jobs.

Just In! Biden Named Terrorist Fighter Of The Month

February 15, 2010

February 15th, 2010

Joe Biden believes success in Iraq will be one of the greatest achievements in the Obama Administration. With the impending withdrawal of thousands of US troops and a democratic government now instituted in Iraq, it would be a monumental achievement for anyone to lay claim to but should Joe Biden and Mr. Obama lay claim to the 2003 invasion and subsequent war in Iraq?

Joe Biden and Dick Cheney have been exchanging words in the press lately and they haven’t been very diplomatic. On Larry King Live the other night, Biden had this to say about successes in Iraq.

I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent — I’ve been there 17 times now. I go about every two months — three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It’s impressed me. I’ve been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.

On NBC’s Meet the Press, Biden went on about some of the things former Vice President Cheney has been saying about the Obama Administration’s course of action on the war on terror,

“Let me choose my words carefully here. Dick Cheney is a fine fellow. He’s entitled to his own opinion. He’s not entitled to rewrite history. He’s not entitled to his own facts. The Christmas Day bomber was treated the exact way that he suggested the shoe bomber was treated.”

“I don’t think the former Vice President Dick Cheney listens,” Biden said. “The president of the United States said in the State of the Union that we’re at war with al-Qaeda and … we are pursuing that war with a vigor like it’s never been seen before. We have eliminated 12 of their top 20 people. We have taken out a hundred of their associates we …have sent them underground. they are in fact not able to do anything remotely like they were in the past. They are on the run. I don’t know where Dick Cheney has been. It’s one thing to be outspoken. It’s another thing to be outspoken in a way that misrepresents the facts. It’s almost like Dick is trying to rewrite history. I can understand why that would be an impulse and maybe he isn’t, literally — I’m not being facetious — maybe he has not been informed of what’s going on. It’s simply not true that the president of the United States is not prosecuting the war against al-Qaeda with a vigor that’s never been seen before.”

I think it’s funny how Biden can take credit for success in Iraq even though himself and Mr. Obama have fought the Bush administration on almost every single thing that made success possible. It seems Biden is the one attempting to rewrite history.

He now wants to jump on the band wagon when it’s politically expedient so lets take a look at what has been accomplished in Iraq.

With the toppling of Saddam Hussein’s regime, the rule of Man has been replaced with the rule of law. With a new constitution, partially written by women, a democratic form of representative government has been installed. This is the most representative form of government the region has ever seen. With record breaking voter registration and turn out, for the first time in history, Iraq has seen three honest and fair elections with virtually no violence. All aspects of their society are represented in their government.

Iraq now has a free economy. Fostering job creation and moving quality of life up on the scale, more people are working and providing for themselves than ever before. 14,000 miles of weed choked canals are now cleared, thanks to coalition sponsored agricultural programs, and over 4,000 previously dry and parched pieces of farm land are now producing product. These programs have put an estimated 15,000 people back to work and has greatly stimulated the agricultural market that represents 7% of Iraqi GDP and the second largest sector over all, behind crude oil production.

Coalition forces and programs have rehabbed thousands of schools and hospitals, raising the availability of primary and higher learning and greatly increased the quality of primary health care. Health care providers and teachers salaries have seen a 10 fold increase. 98% of all Iraqi children have received vaccinations for polio, measles, mumps and rubella and 20 million new textbooks have been shipped in to assist in getting kids back to school and back on the right track to adulthood. Primary school enrollment is 20% higher than before the US led invasion in 2003.

Millions of Iraqi’s who have never had electricity and potable water now take advantage of the billions of dollars invested in new infrastructure. the electricity output to the entire nation is at levels never seen before and the quality of citizens’ lives have been improved across the board.

Iraq is a completely different nation than it was pre-2003. Saddam Hussein was a genocidal madman known for gassing entire villages and towns, killing thousands of people in one swift action, merely for being of a different religion or custom. He HAD to go and that, in my opinion, is what led to the rest of the accomplishments now being claimed by Obama and his ilk. We should have taken care of the situation back in 1992 when we sat four miles from Baghdad and then turned tail and left. I am glad we did go back and I still firmly believe it was the right thing to do for the region and the Iraqi people.

Keep in mind that every item listed above was accomplished far before the 2008 presidential elections in the US. While lobbying tirelessly against the surge, which most notably turned the tide against the insurgency in Iraq, Obama and Biden now want to lay claim to all that the former administration has accomplished. All that the current administration did since the switch of power was adopt the Bush timetable and then reluctantly carbon-copy the surge strategy in Afghanistan.

Millions of Iraqi’s have been liberated from the tyranny of the rule of Men and have been given the just rule of Law. More people are employed and getting an education than ever before. Sanitary conditions for outlying areas have never been better and the quality of health-care for Iraqi’s is at unprecedented levels. They now have the ability as a people to choose their own representation in government and violence at the polls is nearly zero.

War is hell and many people have lost their lives to accomplish this but one only has to tune out the media and actually speak with a returning soldier to hear about how grateful the Iraqi people are for the freedom we have given them with nothing asked in return other than a desire to keep it.

Biden should be ashamed of himself for trying to opportunistically co-opt what has been done in Iraq. Cheney was right when he said,

“If they’re going to take credit for it, fair enough, for what they’ve done while they’re there,” Cheney said. “But it ought to go with a healthy dose of ‘Thank you, George Bush’ upfront and a recognition that some of their early recommendations, with respect to prosecuting that war, were just dead wrong.”

We’re Takin’ it to Science! YEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!

February 12, 2010

February 12th, 2010

While the current administration is enacting strong funding cuts to programs like NASA and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is fabricating data to push a hoax about global warming, Howard Dean announced that Republicans just don’t believe in science anymore. I find this insulting on a number of levels considering, as a physician, he should understand what real science entails. I guess all the snow in DC has gotten to his brain.

I hate to say it, Mr. Dean but “creative thinking” is what got us into this mess with the IPCC in the first place. Creative thinking on economics is what created our huge deficit that Mr. Obama is trying to reduce by cutting funding for the Moon and Mars projects. Yeah, that’s another story. Don’t get me started, my Tourette Syndrome might flare up.

Cap n’ Trade anyone?

The IPCC, with all the faulty weather models and fabricated “scientific data” coming to light, isn’t exactly exemplifying actual science. Back in the 70′s, these very same scientists were shouting about an impending ice age as well.

The way these people cling to a dying horse is pathetic. They would rather go down in flames than admit they were wrong and move forward. Al Gore’s whereabouts are harder to figure out than the location of Bin Ladin’s “Bat Cave”. But in the absence of Al “I’m an inconvenient truth” Gore, you know we can always count on Howard Dean to make some pretty funny statements. The humor is never ending.

Republicans want facts. The problem with main stream facts about global warming is they have always been bunk and people like Howard Dean and Al Gore have too much invested to admit being wrong. The next logical step for these two liberal morons is demagoguery. Predictable really.

EDIT: No kittens where injured in the writing of this post. IT’S A JOKE! GEEESH!

Scary Larry Strikes Again

February 12, 2010

February 12th, 2010

Is this guy for real? Do people really believe this guy is a legitimate journalist? I watched a video on michellemalkin.com of Larry O’Donnell “interviewing” Peter Schiff, a 2010 candidate for the Senate running in Connecticut against Chris Dodd, and was actually surprised at his antics. This is pretty amazing to me because I am probably one of the most cynical critics of the left and know their game plan well. Anyone who has read Saul Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals understands how they work but this man has more than earned his moniker, “Scary Larry”. He’s also earned MSNBC some pretty awful ratings to boot. Who the hell wants to watch this demagogue intentionally slander and discredit the very people who agree to do his show, stupidly I might add, with ad hominem personal attacks and misleading lines of questions? Is that even worthy of an opinion show let alone journalism?

In his latest senseless tirade of bullshit spewing, he went after Marc Theissen on MSNBC during Morning Joe. To Scarborough’s credit, he did the right thing and booted O’Donnell.

With MSNBC’s ratings tanking in a monstrous way, I wonder why they allow the likes of O’donnell and sweaty Olbermannsack to keep spreading their disease. It is obvious that they only appeal to a very small and radical band of merry men who think it’s more important to slander their ideological opponents then address real facts to back up their claims. Like Alinksy always said, the facts don’t matter in an argument. It’s all about discrediting your opponent. In this case, Larry O’Donnell’s tactics are all about not allowing your opponent to even enter the debate by silencing them with his yelling and superior skills of interruption. Either way you slice it, he’s a douche-bag, tried and true.

If MSNBC wants to regain their audience and have a shred of hope of being taken seriously as a news organization, they need to drop the duche-baggery and stick to reporting the news. IMHO I hope they keep it up. Soros is bound to run out of money eventually.

Take this poll. It’s all for fun, I swear!

Three Strikes, You’re OUT! … of prison…

February 10, 2010

February 10th, 2010

The LA Times published an article today by  Jack Leonard which profiled a three strikes offender from Los Angeles. Some of you might remember Jerry Dewayne Williams from back in 1995 when he made national headlines for being sentenced to 25 years to life for stealing a slice of pizza from some kids on the local boardwalk. He was then dubbed the Pizza Thief and he was locked up under California’s new three strikes law. Leonard had this to say.

It’s snowing out! Hide Yer Guns!

February 9, 2010

February 9th, 2010

The city of King, North Carolina recently declared a state of emergency the other day. This makes sense considering the sheer amount of snow that dropped on them and the ensuing mayhem on the roads. What didn’t make sense is their almost all out ban on personal possession of firearms. There is a law on the books in King that states that during a state of emergency declaration, no one may leave their private property in the possession of a firearm, licensed to carry or not and makes it a crime to have a gun in your personal vehicle. Here is an excerpt from WXII Channel 12 online.

Homeland Intrusion

February 8, 2010

February 8th, 2010

While the Department of Homeland Security is ignoring red flags and allowing known terrorists to waltz into the United States on purpose to gain intelligence, they are also watching us very closely. When it was founded in 2002, DHS was supposed to be a central agency that monitored terrorist activity and responded to natural disasters on US soil. While that is their main charter, it has become more evident every day that they are now dabbling in a little domestic intelligence gathering as well. Actually more than a little when you see all the internal memos that have been leaked over the last year detailing who they view as a possible domestic terrorist threat. It seems they have taken this attitude one step further and are now monitoring peaceful protests, gathering personal background information on those protesting and distibuting this information to local law enforcement agencies.

Speaking from the Glass, err.. Heart

February 8, 2010

February 8th, 2010

While Mr. Obama requires a teleprompter for every speaking engagement, even when addressing a group of 6th graders, the MSM has all but crucified Sarah Palin for having a few short crib-notes written on the palm of her hand. I mean, come on! How dare she be ready with a short list of things she wants to cover during the question and answer session? Cha?! In the mean time, Mr. Obama has Boeing and NASA working on a light weight chest mount for a scaled down version of the Official Teleprompter of The United States so he doesn’t have to worry about alignment at the podium.

FOXNews Spins the Wrong Angle

February 8, 2010

February 8th, 2010

A man in Tacoma, Wa. was arrested last night for holding his 4 year old daughter’s head underwater for refusing to recite her ABC’s. The original story was covered locally by The News Tribune here and, overnight, FOXNews picked it up and put there own spin on things. In an effort to sell traffic to their organisation, it appears they added water-boarding to the crimes the father was accused of and made it absolutely clear that he was a soldier in the US Army, stationed at Fort Lewis, Tacoma. Without the opportunity to spin this story, it would have never have been picked up.
